Electrical is a licensed trade with meaningful capital requirements and excellent service margins. As with plumbing, the plan is judged first on the licensing section.
Licensing first

- Any specialist endorsements — fire alarm, low voltage, solar
Be specific. Vagueness here is the fastest way to lose a knowledgeable reader.

Van stock is the line people underestimate. An electrician driving to a supply house mid-job loses an hour and looks unprepared, and first-visit completion rate is a large part of how you get reviewed well.
Two revenue lines
Service and repair. 50% to 65% gross. Troubleshooting, device replacement, small circuits. Fills the diary, builds the relationships, and pays immediately.
Projects — panel upgrades, rewires, EV chargers, generator installs. 30% to 45% gross, much larger tickets, staged payments.
Show them separately in the projections. Blending them hides that projects need material float and service does not.
Build the EV strategy in deliberately
EV charger installation is one of the few genuinely growing categories in residential electrical, and it has a useful property: the customer has already committed to spending, and roughly a third of installs reveal a panel that needs upgrading.
That makes an EV install a lead source for a $3,000 panel job, not just a $900 ticket.
Say so in the plan. It is a more convincing growth strategy than a generic marketing budget.

A dedicated circuit install:

Both healthy. The panel job is worth five service calls in dollars for less than three times the labour.
Break-even
Fixed monthly costs — van, insurance, licensing, software, phone, marketing — run roughly $3,000 to $5,500.
At a $420 average ticket with 52% gross margin, break-even is 14 to 26 jobs a month. Comfortably achievable once the phone rings, which makes lead generation the first-year priority.
Twelve-month projections
